Also provide the use of tactile skills, and/or other appropriate materials for students with a visual impairment. Provide or coordinate technology and materials in recorded, Braille or enlarged print formats.Provide coordination for adaptive equipment and transcription of educational materials into Literary and/or Nemeth Code.Keep proper records and reports as directed.Work collaboratively with parent(s), guardian(s) to foster positive partnerships and serve as a referral agent to other disciplines and community agencies.Collaborate with MISD and constituent school district personnel related to program, services, and professional learning related to students with a visual impairment.Provide direct and consultative curriculum and instruction services to students with a visual impairment, including communication skills, personal adjustment, prevocational and technology skills.Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.Īssigned Responsibilities Shall Include But Not Be Limited To.Ability to work positively with other professionals as a team member with the ability to function without direct supervision.Ability to represent the MISD in a positive manner to the public, LEAs, parents, and other professionals.Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with MISD/LEA staffs and parents.Three years of successful experience teaching children with visual impairments.Full approval as a teacher/consultant to the extent that a district could receive state reimbursement for employment as a teacher of the blind and visually impaired.Dual certification in orientation and mobility preferred but not required.
